As part of the B Corp commitments of my previous agency, we formed a lasting relationship with the global tree-planting charity Just ONE Tree who have been recognised as an actor in the UN's Decade on Ecosystem Restoration. Through this partnership I was able to offer free creative guidance, strategy and direction to help elevate the way they capture content, show up through digital channels and tell their story through impactful case studies.

As is the case for many NGO’s, time and energy is limited, skills are stretched and the pace of delivery is hard to balance. Therefore the most useful value we could add was to create guidelines, toolkits and templates to help streamline how the team worked, and to give some strategic continuity to their storytelling. This support came to life through a short film we created from their recent project in Peru, in which I gave art direction guidance to their team on the ground and crafted the narrative through storyboarding.

In many cases, the projects involve a whole host of communities and stakeholders, with many intertwined activities and layered outcomes. This can make it quite hard to communicate, so we needed to take a step back and really look at the deeper purpose.

The story was about the unity between indigenous communities, local leaders and dedicated individuals. Once this perspective was drawn, we could frame the ecological aspect in ways that talk to the lived experiences of the true guardians of the mountains.
